The health of women and children worldwide has been battered in the last two years, a period that has witnessed growing impacts of conflicts, climate change and the ongoing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, reveals the 2022 Every Woman Every Child Progress Report launched on 18 October.

Ahead of this World Stroke Day, as part of efforts to address the global and individual impact of stroke within the broader NCD response, the NCD Alliance, World Stroke Organization and American Stroke Association have published an update to their policy brief ‘Acting on stroke and noncommunicable diseases: Preventing and responding to stroke to work towards Universal Health Coverage’.

This August, 4 Programme alliances from Ghana, India, Mexico, and the Philippines benefited from the 2022 virtual training of the Advocacy Institute’s NCD Prevention Accelerator Programme. After the training, 94% of the participants felt confident about their knowledge of the global and regional NCD prevention landscape and opportunities for advocacy. “I have gained significant insights that would be relevant in our work here with NCDs in the communities” commented a participant from the Healthy Philippines Alliance.
