An important aspect of NCD Alliance's capacity building and knowledge exchange activities is facilitating connections between those working in, influencing, researching, acting in the NCD space.
Global NCD Alliance Forum
The Global NCD Alliance Forum is NCDA’s flagship convening event, held every two years to unite the NCD movement to promote knowledge exchange, share good practice and strengthen capacity to advocate for the prevention and control of NCDs.
In 2024, the Global NCD Alliance Forum is taking place in Kigali, Rwanda from 20 to 22 October under ‘Leadership on NCDs towards 2025 & beyond’, bringing together 650 delegates from around the world to strategize, coordinate and unite ahead of the 2025 UN High-Level Meeting on NCDs.
Co-hosted by the Rwanda NCD Alliance, in collaboration with the Rwanda Ministry of Health and the Rwanda Biomedical Centre, delegates are invited to Kigali, Rwanda. Dubbed the land of a thousand hills, Rwanda is well known for its beauty, but also as a beacon of progress on health and NCDs within the region and globally, trailblazing renowned Universal Health Coverage reforms.

Taking place over three days, the Forum will feature an official programme alongside a rich agenda of cultural activities and awareness-raising initiatives, including the opportunity to experience Kigali Car Free Day.
The Forum aims to elevate global and regional awareness of NCDs, accelerate collective action, unite civil society, promote evidence-based practices, and amplify the voices of people living with NCDs, driving commitment to prioritise NCDs in health and sustainable development agendas.
“The 2024 Global NCD Alliance Forum is a timely and crucial opportunity to showcase best practice and help accelerate progress in tackling the NCD burden in Rwanda, across the region and globally.”
The inaugural Global NCD Alliance Forum took place in 2015 in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates (UAE), followed by subsequent editions in 2017 and 2020. In 2024, we mark the fourth edition of the Global Forum, and for the first time on the African continent.
NCD Cafés and Dialogues
NCD Café and the NCD Dialogues are hosted at various international world congresses during the year by members of the Supporters Consultation Group with the assistance of the NCD Alliance. They provide interactive platforms for open discussions on key topics in the field of NCDs and global health, as well as a space for networking with prominent expert and thought leaders, with an emphasis on partnership and collaboration.
Side Events
NCD Alliance also coordinates and co-hosts high level side events relevant to the wider NCD community alongside multilateral and bilateral meetings, such as conferences, World Health Assembly and United Nations General Assembly. These have included publication launches, civil society briefings and panel discussions.
