I Am and I Will: Show your support for World Cancer Day on February 4th

01st February 2021
This year on World Cancer Day, hundreds of events and activities will be taking place across the globe to raise awareness and inspire action, building on the theme “I Am and I Will”. It is about each person and their personal commitment to reduce the impact of cancer, and the belief that together, we can reach the target of reducing the number of premature deaths from cancer and other noncommunicable diseases by one third by 2030.
In 2021, World Cancer Day also says a special “thank you” to the nurses, doctors, researchers, volunteers, advocates and other caregivers in oncology from around the world, who have worked through the COVID-19 pandemic to minimize the devastating effects of disruptions to health systems. This year, the stories of such heroes are showcased on a dedicated page of the official World Cancer Day website. They share experiences of challenges faced and overcome, and embody the tremendous strength and unbreakable spirit of the cancer community.
Finally, February 4th will also see the World Cancer Day Solidarity Challenge, uniting over 60,000 cyclists in a virtual global bike ride on Zwift. This important event will raise awareness and much-needed funds for the fight against cancer, at a critical moment when many civil society groups, hospitals, research centres and patient support groups have seen significant reductions in income.
No matter how you choose to take part, show your support with the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) in the fight against cancer this year on World Cancer Day. Together we can help prevent the premature deaths of millions of people due to cancer.
