Global Health Visions (GHV) was commissioned by the NCD Alliance to carry out an independent, external review of our efforts to achieve our aims and objectives as set out in its 2016–2020 Strategic Plan, and to provide strategic and organisational recommendations to inform the strategic planning process for 2021–2026. GHV’s review sought to gather diverse perspectives on the NCD Alliance’s organisational development, overall impact, most remarkable achievements, and key challenges or missed opportunities over the past five years.
The NCD Alliance is pleased to announce the launch of our 2021-2026 Strategy, which is built upon four pathways of action: advocacy and accountability, capacity development, knowledge and partnerships.
For the NCD Alliance, 2020 has been a year dominated by COVID-19, requiring us to adapt organisationally, strategically and financially to the global pandemic and the virtual way of working. NCDA successfully pivoted many of our main functions to virtual platforms, including capacity development training programmes, high-level advocacy events, and media briefings for journalists.
This webinar brought experts together to discuss the challenges with the deployment of the COVID-19 vaccines, and potential strategies to advance Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and Primary Health Care (PHC).
Diabetes and hypertension for example commonly occur together, and both are linked to a wide range of other NCDs, due to complications or being triggered by the same risk factors. This policy brief, therefore, makes the case for simultaneous action for both conditions as an opportunity for decision-makers to achieve an exponential positive impact on wellbeing, health systems strengthening and sustainable development.
This workshop delivered by Movendi International, as part of the PLAN on NCD Prevention and the Advocacy Institute, provided an overview of the global and regional situation on alcohol harm, increase understanding of the current context for alcohol advocacy (e.g., development of an action plan on alcohol), as well as discussed and identified opportunities at national and global levels for civil society to conduct advocacy on alcohol control.
