Millions of girls continue to face disadvantages as it relates to their physical and mental health, rights, and education – simply because of their gender.

This August, 4 Programme alliances from Ghana, India, Mexico, and the Philippines benefited from the 2022 virtual training of the Advocacy Institute’s NCD Prevention Accelerator Programme. After the training, 94% of the participants felt confident about their knowledge of the global and regional NCD prevention landscape and opportunities for advocacy. “I have gained significant insights that would be relevant in our work here with NCDs in the communities” commented a participant from the Healthy Philippines Alliance.

Mental, neurological and substance disorders are a major public health problem with severe economic and health consequences for all of society, and governments must urgently prioritize investment in treating and preventing them. It’s an investment that promises great returns – economically, for our health, and for pandemic preparedness and resilience.

Toutes les deux secondes, une personne de moins de 70 ans succombe à une MNT, et 86% de ces décès surviennent dans les PRFI, indique l'OMS dans un nouveau rapport et le portail de données qui l'accompagne.

Le Réseau africain sur les maladies non transmissibles (Africa NCDs Network - ANN), en collaboration avec l'Alliance sur les MNT, a préparé et présenté des déclarations sur les points de l'ordre du jour relatifs aux MNT lors de la session du Comité régional (CR) de l'OMS pour l'Afrique.
